They Wrote About Elio Sonsini

What is painting? To answer this question, it would be enough to take a brush and paint the reality that surrounds us, or rather the aspects most congenial to our personality. Painting is, in truth, much more: it is a practice through which one gives full vent to individual creativity, not constrained by rules or traditional stereotypes that can contaminate the free rein of an artist. This is the case of the painter Elio Sonsini who has always shown that he knows how to discover and capture "beauty" in every field of human knowledge, transferring it to his canvases that are always innovative and in step with the times. The pleasure that one feels in painting was his starting point at a very young age, later enriched by methods and knowledge based on experiences broader than his personal ones. What makes his paintings works of art is not only the choice of images or the mix of colors, or the faithful reproduction of details, both in abstract and realist works, but it is the author's personal style. It is the result of experience and skill, impatience to let his work reach the eyes of the beholder, transmitting an emotion, a message, a community of ideas that make the viewer participate in what the artist wanted to communicate. Every artist is a man of great sensitivity, more than others, because he knows how to interpret "between the lines" and enhance every small detail, even the most hidden of human reality. Elio Sonsini perfectly embodies this definition as his commitment is constant and his creativity is always renewed both in being the bearer of messages addressed to humanity and in noting and denouncing the evils of the world to ensure that people arrive at a purification of the soul that allows them to build a healthier world. His total devotion for painting from which he draws a personal enjoyment so emerging from his canvases, reaches the eyes and hearts of those who find themselves in the presence of his works and can share the pleasure.
Marina Cipollone
"Elio Sonsini's painting walks with man". With classical figurative art he admirably portrayed the man of our time between a communicative and a human past and a technologized and massifying present. The
exasperation of technological innovation has paradoxically made man more alone, more selfish, eluding
personal spiritual refmement. Despite progress, planetary disasters remain caused by the moral disorder
of man, perpetually the same as himself. Persuaded by the uselessness of denunciation disappointed by the expectations of a radical renewal, Sonsini turns his interest to the unconscious and structural processes of the human mind and arrives with surprising originality and maerstria at informal expression. Watercolor acrylic allows him to spread with great effectiveness spots of color, which recall the energy of thought, the ignition of emotions and throbbing sensations, the neurosis of man lost in the abysses of the unexplored.

Even in his most recent production, Elio Sonsini, who is defined by many as " an Artist of the human soul" loves returning back to find out the personal and moral aspects of his character, and to retrace the most precious paths of his constant search of existence. The recovery of ancient values, the enchantment of nature, the respect for the elderly, with their wisdom and understanding of life, the love for infancy with the enphasis of protecting and preserving it from all types of violence, and above all the importance of social harmony having as seeds the antique honor codes such as characterized in small town life. This message is to be given as pure as possible to a hardened and materialistic modem world. These values exist as themes in all his works and are emphasized by the artist with the chaise of either acrylic or
watercolor technique. He uses soft colors plunged in various intensities of light, which give the work a perspective of volume, while the idea of moral feeling is potrayed. The highest morality of the artist is revealed when he makes a self interpretation of the scene, and by developing the colors of emotion and formulating the structure of its design, he creates a more personal and poetic form of work. On the
canvas he expresses his intense desire to recover that which is most precious, the Nobility and Sensitivity of man. We have much respect for thi man, and and the art that he creates. We hope that his message of incorrupt purity and poetry of innocence, may have a lasting influence, even until the next generation.

Elio Sonsini is an artist who expresses emotions through painting in different techniques such as acrylic, watercolor and oils. His latest paintings are in acrylic of varying degree of color to show his depth of emotions. The painting with dark colors are explosive and appear in different shades of red and seems to somewhat symbolize the devil and chaos, whereas his paintings light pastel colors seems to represent a feeling of lightness with the appearance of a castel in the background, p[ossibly representing a glimpse of Paradise. Throughout these recent acrylic paintings, you can feel and see the landscape of ever changing emotions. truly a great artist who can touch on our emotions as we see how he shares his emotions with the viewer

Meeting artists like Elio Sonsini means entering a special world, where you feel privileged who experience unique and unexpected sensations. In contact with his new creations, the sole expands and, I don't know how, grows and loves, as if it were dragged into a world where only what is authentic and true counts.
In fact, Elio, with his refined and creative figurative sensitivity, is able to grasp what is most hidden in the soul of all of us, anticipates it and shows it to us with courage, before it is evident to our conscience. So the meeting becomes intimate, because it is made of up emotions and deep feelings. It is not a question of
rationality, it is not something that can be explained, but is a founding experience that can no longer be done without. In our meetings made up of sincere friendship, mutual listening and stories of life lived for about thirtly years, I seek and find myself.
Through his works made up of landscapes, portraits or still lifes I see myself from time to time serene or tormente, confident or disappointed, angry or happy, disappointed or proactive, but always open to the journey of life, wherever it takes us. Elio Sonsini's work speak of a throbbing existence, of changing moods and of our way of being in the world, simple and authentic, sometimes suffered and painful, but always human and passionate. They remind us that emotions make us unique, like the moving lines of his landscapes and the mellow colors of his canvases; they teach us that passions are the essence of us, which prevents us from becoming alienated robots; They tell us that passions when our humanity fails, we become selfish and insensitive to the needs of others.

His paintings are an invitation, indeed a warning, not to get lost, to remain human, to look at reality with courage and wisdom, to cultivate interiority and authentic values, to rediscover the affections and generosity of giving, to conquer the happiness of small things, beyond pain and existential torment. For this reason, it is essential to continue to dialogue with his art, because his achievements can also become ours and so that our life, nourished by beauty can become fuller and more worth living
